Concrete Polishing – FAQs

How is polished concrete different from “grind & seal”?

Polished concrete is mechanically refined with diamonds and hardeners; the gloss is in the slab itself. Grind & seal is a lighter grind and a topical sealer on top — cheaper and faster, but sealer wears and needs re-coating.

How long does a single garage take?

Usually 1–2 days depending on condition, crack repairs and the sheen you want. Heavy glue/paint removal can add time.

What about footprints, stones, or pour marks?

Deep defects pressed into the slab can remain faintly visible. We’ll advise what’s realistic after seeing your photos; heavy grinds remove many surface marks.

Is it slippery?

When clean and dry, polished concrete has good slip resistance. For wet areas we can select a finer cut (matte/satin) or consider a sealed/honed option with anti-slip.

Maintenance?

Dust-mop and neutral pH clean. No waxing needed. Years later a light re-polish can refresh traffic lanes.

New slab vs existing?

We polish both. New slabs should be flat, well finished and cured. Existing slabs may need extra passes to remove coatings and level highs/lows.
